BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference released its spring academic awards for the 2026 year and Union University was we represented. Union put three players on the GSC All-Acadmic teams, including Andrew Westmoreland (men's golf), Brooklyn Verdugo (women's golf), and Elijah Ramsey (baseball). Union also placed 57 student-athletes on the GSC Honor Roll for this spring. 

The GSC All-Academic is a combination of on field contributions and academic standards, voted on by the sports information directors and FARs of the GSC. Verdugo was named second team All-GSC this season with a 75.7 scoring average. She posted one first place finish, a second place finish, and two third place finishes this year and finished 13th at the GSC Championships. Andrew Westmoreland was a two time GSC Golfer of the Week this year and finished 10th at the GSC Championships. He posted a round of 66 at the GSC Championship, the fifth best second round in GSC Championship history. He post two other top-10s this season including one first place finish and a hole-in-one. Ramsey was named first team All-GSC this season along with a GSC Player of the Week honor. He hit .341 with 33 runs, 11 doubles, four home runs, and 35 RBI.

Baseball put 27 on the honor roll including Caleb Davis, Lane Evans, Eli Jackson, Brodey Lentz, Canyon Pace, Grant Ross, Matthew Sureda, Noah Toney, Sam Arnold, Matthew Autry, Efren Blanco, Carter Daniel, Alex Johnson, Nick Jones, Kylon Joyner, Cole Lannom, Brody Mann, Nathan Myers, Cash Pinson, Ethan Quinn, Elijah Ramsey, Cole Smith, Chase Spears, Garrett Telaga, Cody Tjomsland, Chris Troyer, and Caden Walker. 

Nine men's golfers made the list including Jackson Hughey, Will Brown, Henry Ashley, Caleb Clifft, Trace Robinson, Luke Stephenson, Andrew Westmoreland, Matthew Westmoreland, and Jack-Henry Wise. 

Softball had 14 players to make the list including Emily Claire Felder, Mallory Hildebrand, Courtney Marler, Riley Vaughn, Rylee Moore, Skai Albury, Ella Joy Bragan, Paige Garetson, Chloe Jones, Camryn Langley, Bella Lopez, Sydney Scott, Lexi Vircks, and Mya Willis. 

Seven women's golfers were on the list including Brooklyn Verdugo, Macy Bromley, Camille Burnette, Olivia Carroll, Abigail Fernandez, Aubrey Payne, and Grace Roper.
