Before Union
Payne prepped at Hewitt Trussville High School in Trussville, Ala., where she golfed for six years and played volleyball for two years. She also played two years of club volleyball. She qualified as an individual for the AHSAA  7A state tournament as a junior, placing 10th. Payne was named 2023 AHSAA North All Star Team, 2023 BGA player of the year, and 2024 Kiwanis Club of Birmingham Player of the Year. She was the golf team captain for two years, and as a senior, helped lead her team to seven tournament wins, including the 7A section 3 Championship (low medalist) and the 7A Substate North Championship. Her team finished AHSAA 7A state runner up. Off the course, Payne received an honors diploma while having a 4.2 GPA. She was in National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society.
