BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Union University men's and women's basketball teams put 3+ on the Gulf South Conference Academic Honor Roll. Union's
Jada Smith was also named to the GSC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team.Â
The GSC Honor Roll includes student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher, while the all-academic team is a selection process for sophomores and above with at least a 3.2 GPA and also have significant athletic contribution on the floor.Â
Smith, a 5-foot-9 senior guard from Hoover, Ala., averaged 18.8 points per game this season, third in the GSC, and led the conference with 5.4 assists per game. Smith led Union to the GSC Regular Season and Tournament Titles. Smith was named the GSC Player of the Year, GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and was named to the GSC All-Tournament team. She was also named first team All-South Region in WBCA and D2CCA. She was named a WBCA First Team All-American and a D2CCA All-American. She became just the second player in Union women's basketball history to surpass 1,500 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 500 career assists. She finished her career with 1,826 points, 573 rebounds, and 547 assists.Â
Three Union men were named to the honor roll including

Samory Gueye, and
Cooper Meadows.Â
Six Union women's basketball players were named to the honor roll including Smith,
Emily Beard,
Miracle Gray,
Shanique Lucas,
Elli Pratt, and
Kieli Robinson. Â
