Union has two GSC Winter All-Academic players, 12 on GSC honor roll
 
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University had two players earn spots on the Gulf South Conference Winter All-Academic Teams in men's and women's basketball. Union also boasted 12 total players on the GSC Winter Honor Roll, one of seven GSC schools in double figures.
 
The all-academic teams are student-athletes are voted on from a pool of nominees that are sophomores or higher with at least a 3.30 GPA. It also carries weight of athletic stats and accomplishments. The honor roll includes all student-athletes that have at least a 3.0 GPA and played varsity competition for a winter sport.
 
Kelsey Risner was named to the GSC Women's Basketball All-Academic team for the second straight season. Risner was also a second team All-GSC performer this season for the Union women's basketball team. Union set a GSC record with 20 league wins, winning the regular season title for the second straight year and third time in four seasons. Union advanced to a second straight NCAA DII National Tournament and was the No. 1 seed and host for the NCAA DII South Region Tournament.
 
Serigne Mboup was named to the GSC Men's Basketball All-Academic team. Mboup, a graduate student, played his only season at Union this year, helping the team to a second straight NCAA DII National Tournament.
 
Eight women's basketball players from Union made the honor roll list including Kayla Bise, Chelsea Bodiford, Jordan Johnson, Bethany Lytle, Fredi Nielsen, Tiffany Rechis, Risner and Bryanna Robinson.
 
Four men's basketball players earned a spot on the honor roll list including Mboup, Quinn Beasley, Aleksandar Cosic and Felipe Rocha.
