Brown played four years for the men's basketball team. He left a lasting mark on the Union record books.Â
Brown set the record for points in a career, which has since been topped by fellow hall of famer, Warren Olden. However, Brown's 2,204 career points still ranks second in the Union record books, just six points behind the leader. Brown was the first men's basketball player at Union to reach 2,000 career points. He is also second in the record book with 918 career rebounds. He still holds the records for most steals in a career (265), most free throws made in a career (497), and most field goal attempts in a career (1,559).Â
During his career at Union, Brown was named to the Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference (TCAC) All-Conference team.Â
Brown has several other top-10 listings in the record books. He is seventh all-time in points in a game with 40, second all-time in made field goals in a career with 845, fourth all-time in field goal attempts in a season with 510, and is seventh all-time with 678 points in a season.Â
Brown came to Union from Union City, Tennessee where he was a basketball star. He was District 14 AA MVP, twice named all-district, and was all-region and all-state in 1997.Â
Since graduating from Union, Brown has worked with high school and middle school boys basketball programs. He coached AAU boys basketball for 10 years, travel teams for 15 years. In his 25 total years of training boys basketball players, he has turned out three Mr. Basketball selections.Â
Brown has been married for 28 years and has four children. He currently works as the School Bus Contractor for Rutherford County Schools. Â
