Jeff Dobbins played baseball at Union in the early-1980s including a key role on Union’s only World Series team in 1983.

 Dobbins is tied for first in Union’s history with 89 hits in a season, is first with a .421 4-year career average, and fifth with a .467 season average. Dobbins was named all-conference, all-west division, and all-district.

The Union team in his junior season of 1982 was 40-10, setting the record for wins in a season. The next year, the team was 49-12, setting the record again that still stands for wins in a season. 

In 1982, Dobbins hit .401 with 41 hits, 16 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 42 RBI. His career year was 1983, hitting .467, and setting the school record for hits in a season with 89. He is third in Union’s record book with hits in a career (261) and has the third longest hitting streak at 20 games. He is third all-time in double in a season (22) and runs scored in a season (68). 

Dobbins played for two Union Hall of Fame coaches, Linn Stranak and David Blackstock.
