Ed Walton ran track and cross country at Union University from 1960-64, earning four varsity letters in each sport.Â
Walton was named team captain, leading his teams to a combined four-team conference titles.Â
In cross country, Walton won the 1962 VSAC title, finished third in 1963, and was a member of the undefeated team in duel meets in 1961.Â
Walton was just as impressive on the track. He won the VSAC 2-mile title in 1961 and 1962, while also winning the 1-mile title in 1962.Â
Walton is the fifth athlete from those teams to be inducted into the Union Sports Hall of Fame.Â
Since his graduation from Union, Walton taught for 30 years of middle school science in St. Louis County. He also spent many hours volunteering with The Salvation Army, VA home visits, the Gideons, and the homeless in St. Louis. Walton is especially proud of his awards for train photography and his volunteer work with the Friends of the Cumbres and Totec Scenic Railroad in Chama, NM. There, he photographed restoration along the right of way.Â
