HUMBOLDT, Tenn. - The Union University men's golf team won the Don Morris Invitational Title. The two-round event was played at the Humboldt Golf and Country Club and featured seven teams with 50 golfers.

Union Logan Montgomery (72, 74-146) and Maison Felkins (73, 73-146) joined Christian Brothers University's Daniel Maybee (73, 73-146) in a three-way tie for first place. Maybee earned the medalist honors after winning a one-hole playoff. Freed-Hardeman's Zane Johnson (147) finished fourth to round out the all-tournament team.

Union fired a first round 296 to lead at the end of the day Monday. Union followed with a 302 to hold off Christian Brothers' 299 final round for the four-shot victory. Union was 589 for the tourney while CBU shot 602. Shorter finished third, Bethel fourth, Freed-Hardeman fifth, Williams Baptist sixth, and Crowley's Ridge seventh. Freed-Hardeman and Union also entered an additional team each in the field. Union's B-Team fired a final round 300 to climb and finish with a 612 which was good enough to have finished third in the event.

Joining Union's Montgomery and Felkins with top-10 finishes included Blake Wolfe T5 (76, 72-148). Wolfe's 72 was the low score of the second round. Anders Rider finished T7 (75, 74-149).

Reagan Oliver finished T15 (77, 76-153), Cal Templeton T20 (76, 79-155), Trey Tidwell T20 (75, 80-155), Kip Patterson T26 (80, 77-157), Ted Williams T31 (83, 76-159), Garrett McCraw 34th (83, 77-160), Blake Templeton T35 (81, 80-161), and Ben Muha T45 (83, 87-170).

Union head coach Ryan Chandler said, "I am very proud of all my players this week. The course gave us a great test and we had to be patient, knowing par was a great score. It is great to see the players build confidence this early in the season and see the results pay off from the work they are putting in on a daily basis."

Union won its home fall tournament for just the second time in program history. The first was back in 2012, the event's first year.

Up next for Union will be the final event of the fall, the Full Moon BBQ Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo, November 1-2.
