OLD HICKORY, Tenn. - The Union University men's golf team posted a runner-up finished at the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University. The 3-round event was played at the Hermitage Golf and Country Club and featured 16 teams with 87 golfers.Â
Union's
Trace Robinson finished in second place at 5-under, just one shot behind the medalist, Oliver Marshall from Hillsdale College. Robinson was 3-under after the first round, and added 1-under scores in both the second and third rounds. He finished the 54 holes with nine birdies.Â
As a team, Union finished even par for the tournament, four strokes behind the team champion, Trevecca Nazarene. Union shot 4-under in round one, 6-over in round two, and 2-under in Tuesday's final round.Â
The top five included Shorter in third, Carson Newman and Miles tied for fourth. Other GSC finishers included Mississippi College (9th), Delta State (11th), and Christian Brothers (15th).Â
The rest of Union's team included
Lane Carr with another good tournament in 15th place at 1-over.
Andrew Westmoreland finished 27th (+4),
Henry Ashley 34th (+6), and
Matthew Westmoreland 53rd (+9).
Jackson Hughey played as an individual and finished 77th (+18).Â
This was the final regular season event for Union as the Gulf South Conference Championship is up next, April 20-22 at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.Â
