Before Union
Tidwell prepped at Waverly Central High School where he played four years of golf, three years of football, four years of basketball, and four years of baseball. He helped lead his baseball team to a district title, while his football team captured three district titles. Tidwell posted the lowest scoring average in the district as a senior. Shot a 32 in a 9-hole district match as a senior, and tided for the low district tournament medalist as a junior and senior. In baseball, he hit .548 and had 1,238 receiving yards with 21 touchdowns as a senior in football. In football, Tidwell was first team all-state, all-region receiver, kicker, and punter. He was a Wendy's Heisman State Winner. In baseball, he was all-district and all-tournament three times, while earning district player of the year as a senior. In basketball, he was all-tournament and all-district in basketball. Off the fields and court, Tidwell was a member of the Beta Club, National Technical Honor Society, FBLA, FCA, Leo Club, and Junior Civitan. He was named Most Athletic in senior class, earned the Outstanding Senior Award, class Valedictorian, class president, Exchange Club Student of the Month, Meriwether Lewis Electric Coop Essay Winner, and a Union Scholar of Excellence.
