Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team dropped a non-conference home game to Harding (Ark.) University 6-3 Wednesday afternoon at Fesmire Field. Union dropped to 12-24 on the season, while Harding improved to 22-15 overall.
The game was a rematch of last week's game in Arkansas that ended with Union winning by the same score of 6-3.
The Bison took a 1-0 advantage in the first inning with an unearned run. Union scored two runs in second to go ahead 2-1. Consecutive two-out singles by
Brad Royer and
Kyle Bryan brought
Caleb Warnimont to the plate in the second. Warnimont singled to leftfield scoring Royer. Bryan scored on an error to give Union the lead.
Harding tied the game 2-2 in the third and went up 4-2 in the fourth. The Bison added two more runs in the eighth for a 6-2 score.
Wacey Russell laced a triple to left centerfield in the ninth.
Jim Martin hit a single to right field that scored Russell for the 6-3 final.
Andrew Allen and Warnimont each had two of Union's eight total hits.
Michael Flores had his 12-game hitting streak snapped in today's game.
Kyle Bryan now has the team's longest current streak at six games. Allen continued his team best 15 straight games of reaching base. Warnimont has a 14-game streak still alive for reaching base safely.
Jacob Stripling (2-3) worked 3.1 innings to pick up the win after coming on in the second inning.
Chaz Wilson (3-3) recorded the loss, allowing four runs, three earned on six hits in 5.1 innings.
Union returns to Gulf South Conference play hosting West Alabama Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Fesmire Field.
