Box Score 2 Huntsville, Ala. – The Union University baseball team split with Alabama Huntsville on the road this weekend. The first game of the series was canceled due to rain, so both teams played a double header on Sunday. Union won the first game 4-0 and lost the second game 5-6. Union moved to 6-6 overall on the season and 2-3 in the Gulf South Conference. The Chargers of Alabama Huntsville moved to 6-8 overall ad 2-3 in league play.
In the first game, the Bulldogs scored one run in each of the even innings holding the Chargers to only four hits throughout the game.
Blake Barrett led Union with three hits,
Britt Netterville,
Grayson Swanson, and Barrett let Union in RBI's with one a piece.
Luke Williamson started on the mound for Union throwing 7.0 innings earning four strikeouts. He allowed no runs on two hits and three walks.
Ryan Middleton pitched in relief, he threw 2.0 innings earning one strikeout. He allowed no runs on two hits and one walk.
The second game was back in fourth having the Chargers score four in the first and Union scoring four in the third. The Chargers would take control of the game when they scored two more in the middle and late innings. Union made a late push but could not come up with the timely hits to pull off the win.
Jake Baker led Union with two hits. Multiple Bulldogs had RBI's in this game.
Sam McMillin started on the mound for the Bulldogs, he threw 1.0 innings earning one strikeout. He allowed four runs on two hits and three walks.
Dylan Thomas pitched in relief throwing one inning only allowing one walk.
AJ Zeak threw three innings allowing one run on two hits and three walks. Sam Pointdexter threw one inning earning one strikeout. He allowed one run on one hit and one walk.
Up next for Union is a midweek matchup at home against Arkansas Tech University. This game is set to take place Tuesday, March 1 at 3:00 pm.
