Box Score 3 CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Union University baseball team dropped their road series at Delta State University in Cleveland, Sunday. Union lost the first game 5-1, the second game 12-8, and the third game 4-2. Union moved to 8-11 overall and 7-11 in the Gulf South Conference. Delta State moved to 10-10 on the season and 8-10 in league play.
In game one, Union was led by
A'Darius Pugh going 2-4, scoring the lone run for the Bulldogs.
Patrick Music picked up the RBI after a fielder's choice brought home Pugh from third.
Walker Adkisson got the nod for the Bulldogs, pitching 5.2 innings giving up nine hits, four earned runs, with four strikeouts, and the loss.
Sam Poindexter also threw 2.1 innings giving up three hits, one earned run, and two strikeouts. Other performances to note,
Trey Frierson went 1-5, and
Britt Netterville went 1-4.
In game two, the Bulldogs were led by
Ryan Lee who went 2-4 with five RBI's, three of which coming off the long ball.
Trey Frierson went 1-5 with one RBI,
Jake Baker went 2-3 with one RBI, and
Slater Schield added one RBI as well. On the mound,
Luke Williamson took the loss, he was the starter who went four innings giving up six hits, six earned runs, and five strikeouts.
Stuart Edge came in relief with three innings pitched giving up zero hits, with three strikeouts.
In game three, the Bulldogs were led by
Trey Frierson who went 2-5 with one RBI and scoring one run as well.
Slater Schield went 1-4 with one RBI.
Britt Netterville went 2-4,
Jake Baker went 1-2, and
Dacoda Stone went 1-3. On the mound,
Sam McMillin took the loss pitching five innings giving up six hits, three earned runs, and three strikeouts.
Logan Portis pitched in relief with 1.2 innings giving up no hits, no runs, with one strikeout.
Up next for Union will be a home midweek double header against nonconference opponent Young Harris. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 23 at Fesmire Field.
