Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Union University men's soccer team posted a 4-1 victory at Trevecca Nazarene University Saturday night. Union improved to 2-0 on the season, while Trevecca dropped to 0-1-1.
Union scored first just six minutes into the match when
Diego Santos headed a
Caleb Mills assist into the back corner of the net. Just 12 minutes later, Union added a second goal when Mills hit from seven yards out. The score remained 2-0 at the half.
In the second half, Union scored again as Santos scored his second goal of the game and third of the season in the 60
th minute. Trevecca Nazarene spoiled the shutout for Union with their lone goal coming from Rob Ward in the 72
nd minute. Union added a final goal in the 81
st minute from
Alex Pratt to set the final at 4-1.
Matt Kesler played all 90 minutes in goal for Union, recorded eight saves including a key penalty kick save in the first half. Trevecca's Braydon Brown allowed four goals and tallied two saves in his 90 minutes of goal work.
Union outshot Trevecca Nazarene 5-4 in the first half, but it was the home Trojans dominating the shots in the second half 17-6 over Union and 21-11 in the match.
Up next for Union will be their first home match of the season when Union welcomes new Gulf South Conference opponent and former NAIA rival Lee (Tenn.) University, Friday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m.
