HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Union University men's soccer team turned in a strong defensive performance against the University of Alabama in Huntsville Wednesday night in Gulf South Conference action.
The Bulldogs held UAH scoreless for more than 72 minutes before the Chargers scored the match's only goal in the 73rd minute.
Patrick Schott played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded nine saves for Union.
Christopher Cerda led the Bulldogs with two shots, including Union's only shot on goal. Charlie Peters, Freddie Westfall, Lewis Harding, Solomon Pela and Ashanie Kennedy each added one shot.
Union finished with seven shots and three corner kicks, while UAH recorded 18 shots and seven corners.
The Bulldogs are now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in GSC play.
Union will return home Wednesday, Sept. 30, to face Mission University at 4 p.m. at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex.
