JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men's soccer team earned its second straight Gulf South Conference victory with a 1-0 win over Spring Hill College Saturday night at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half, Michael Bailey put the Bulldogs ahead in the 66th minute. Solomon Pela assisted on the goal, which was Bailey's first of the season.
Union's defense protected the lead for the remainder of the match. Goalkeeper Patrick Schott played all 90 minutes and recorded nine saves to earn the shutout.
The Bulldogs finished with 17 shots, including six on goal. Pela led Union with six shots and placed two on goal. Max Maola and Decker Burns added two shots each.
Union improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in GSC play.
The Bulldogs will continue conference play Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. against UAH in Huntsville, Alabama.
