SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – The Union University men's soccer team finished tied for the second time after four matches this season with a 2-2 double-overtime match at John Brown University. Union goes to 1-1-2 on the season, while John Brown is now 3-0-1 overall.
John Brown scored their two goals within three minutes of each other late in the first half. Both goals came on penalty kicks from Eli Simonsen. John Brown led 2-0 at the 41:55 mark of the first half. Union responded quickly with a goal in the next minute, a rebound put in the back of the net from
Seth Guiler set the halftime score at 2-1.
In the second half, Union tied the match on a penalty kick from
Guilherme Reis in the 59
th minute of play to tie the game.
Union outshot John Brown 18-10, including 3-0 in the two overtime periods.
Matt Kesler recorded three saves in 110 minutes in goal for Union. John Brown's Pablo Garcia had six saves.
Up next for Union will be a home conference game, Friday, September 14 versus West Florida at 5:00 p.m.
