JACKSON, Tenn.- Union University Men's Soccer ended their weekend in a successful match against Spring Hill College. After the match, Bulldog's record rises to 3-5-4 (2-4-1 GSC) and the Badger's fall to 1-9-1 (1-7-1 GSC).
Bulldogs dominated scoring in the first match. Sophomore
Aaron Gomez opened goals from an assist from
Daniel Dixon and
Lawson Harvey in the 4
th minute of the half.
Soon after,
Christian Harjanne found the back of the net for his first goal of the game in the 13
th minute.
Ostian Bowen collected his first assist in the match.
2 minute later, Harjanne struck again with a goal assist by Bowen and
Marc Badibanga.
Ashanie Kennedy concluded the first half with the fourth goal of the game, thanks to an assist by
Wesley Mhlanga.
Harjanne opened the second half with his third goal of the day, earning himself a hat trick. Bowen assisted once again. This fifth goal concluded Bulldog scoring; however, the Badgers responded.
SHC quickly responded 3 minutes after Harjanne's goal. Ectoras Menelaou scored an unassisted goal, spoiling a Bulldog shutout.
Finally, Badgers concluded scoring for the day with a 67
th minute Alessandro Abate assisted by Gage Estep and Jack Ambrose.
Patrick Schott made a great defensive effort between the posts, putting up 5 saves, 3 of them crucial in the second half. He played all 90 minutes in goal.
The box score shows Union beating out SHC in shots on goal (8-7) out of 14 total shots.
