JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's soccer team dropped their home match Monday evening to University of Alabama-Huntsville 2-0. Union is now 2-3-2 on the season and 0-2-2 in the Gulf South Conference. Alabama-Huntsville improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.
It did not take long for the visitors get on the board first as Sydnie Fiocca added to her team-high goals total with a quick strike in the second minute of play. Khadijah Jannah set up Fiocca with a cross to earn the assist. In the 32
nd minute of play, the Chargers scored their second and final goal of the match on shot from Cady Reisman, assisted by Summer Carter.
Union was outshot in the first half 8-6 by the Alabama-Huntsville. In the second half, Union dominated possession, outshooting the Chargers 7-0. However, the Lady Bulldogs could not break through.
Iris Gunnarsdottir recorded seven saves in the shutout for Alabama-Huntsville. Union's
Emily Waggoner had five saves in the loss.
Up next for Union will be a road match at Delta State (Miss.), Friday, September 28 at 1:30 p.m.
