CLINTON, Miss. – The Union University women's soccer team opened Gulf South Conference play with a 2-2 draw against Mississippi Christian University on Saturday.
Rebekah Jackson scored both goals for the Lady Bulldogs. Jackson converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute to put Union on the scoreboard.
Union entered halftime trailing 2-1 but held Mississippi Christian scoreless throughout the second half. The Lady Bulldogs tied the match in the 83rd minute when Jackson scored her second goal off an assist from Paige Blackburn.
Union recorded eight shots, including four on goal. Jackson led the Lady Bulldogs with three shots. Antia López Rodríguez played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves.
Union is now 0-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs will continue conference play Wednesday, Sept. 16, against Delta State University at 1 p.m. in Cleveland, Mississippi.
