No. 22 West Florida rallies to sweep Union softball
JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's softball team lost 7-6 to No. 22 University of West Florida Saturday in the final game of the 3-game home series at Fesmire Field. Union lost 3-1 and 8-2 in a doubleheader Friday. Union dropped to 4-24 overall, and 3-17 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida improved to 21-10 on the season and 15-6 in league play. 
Union led 5-0 after the first inning Saturday and 6-1 going into the top of the six. However, three runs for West Florida in the sixth and then three more in the top of the seven completed the comeback. UWF's Poling hit a 2-run home run with two outs in the top of the seven to give her team its first lead of the game. Union's big blow in the first inning was a grand slam from freshman catcher 
Tori York. 
Ashten Petty led Union with two hits while each of the first six batters in Union's lineup recorded one hit each. 
Gabby Morris went the distance in the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, with five strikeouts and seven walks.
In Friday's first game, UWF's only runs came on a 3-RBI triple from Poling in the third inning. Union added its run in the fifth when 
Sarah Smith walked with the bases loaded. Morris took the hard luck loss for the Lady Bulldogs. 
Game two Friday had UWF scoring first with two runs in the second. Union answered with run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run York. Down 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Union got another home run, a solo shot from Mackenzie David. 
Taylor Manley took the loss for Union in the complete game effort.
Up next for Union will be a GSC road series at West Georgia April 10-11.
