JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team dropped a home Gulf South Conference series against Mississippi College Monday afternoon. Union lost the first game 11-9, the second game 18-5, and the third game 20-8. Union moved to 9-15 overall and 7-14 in the GSC. Delta State improved to 8-13 on the season and 5-11 in league play.
In game one, Union was led by
Jake Baker going 3-4, scoring one run with two RBI for the Bulldogs.
Trey Frierson went 3-5 with a double and an RBI,
Josh Bozoian went 2-5 with a home run and three RBI, and
Britt Netterville went 2-5.
Walker Adkisson got the nod for the Bulldogs, pitching six innings giving up seven hits, three earned runs, with six strikeouts.
Logan Portis threw two innings and took the loss giving up three hits, one earned run, with two strikeouts.
In game two, the Bulldogs were led by
Trey Frierson who went 2-3 with a triple and four runs scored.
Patrick Music went 2-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run scored. On the mound,
Luke Williamson took the loss, pitching six innings giving up four hits, four earned runs, with five strikeouts.
In game three, the Bulldogs were again led by
Trey Frierson who went 3-5 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Patrick Music went 3-4 with two runs scored.
Britt Netterville went 1-4,
Josh Bozoian went 2-5,
Austin Zeitler went 1-4, and
Ryan Lee went 1-4. On the mound,
Sam McMillin took the loss pitching 1.1 innings giving up five hits, seven earned runs, with one strikeout.
Up next for Union will be another home GSC series against the University of West Florida. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., Friday, April 2 at Fesmire Field.
