MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Union University baseball team won the series with a win in the third and final game of the series against the University of Montevallo. After splitting the double header yesterday, Union won today 11-6. Union moved to 5-4 overall and 5-4 in the Gulf South Conference. UM moved to 4-5 on the season and 4-5 in league play.   

The Falcons, acting as the road team, struck first scoring one in the top of the first and one in the top of the second. The Bulldogs answered back quickly and fiercely, scoring six runs in the bottom of the second inning. The big inning started with Ryan Lee reaching base on a walk, and later advancing to second on a passed ball. With Ryan Lee on second, Drew Hill singled, putting runners at first and third. A'Darius Pugh singled to left scoring Lee and advancing Hill to second. Dorian Berry laid down a sacrifice bunt that led to an error by the pitcher on the play, scoring Hill and Pugh. Jake Baker singled to left scoring Berry. Britt Netterville reached on a fielder's choice, and Josh Bozoian followed it up with a no doubt long ball. In the second inning the Bulldogs scored six runs on four hits, and one error. After a scoreless third inning on both sides, the Falcons scratched one across in the top of fourth after two hits and a wild pitch. In the bottom half of the fourth the Bulldogs answered with one run of their own, after Trey Frierson reached third on a single and a ball that got past a diving outfielder, and Jake Baker hit a sacrifice fly to score the runner. In the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs tacked on another run to their total after Ryan Lee hit a solo home run, his second of the weekend and the Bulldogs third of the weekend. In the top of the sixth the Falcons scratched across one after a double and a throwing error to follow on the next play. Once again, the Bulldogs answered back, scoring one on an RBI single from Josh Bozoian. In the top of the seventh the Falcons scored two runs after a double, error, and sacrifice fly, solidifying this game as an offensive showdown. In the bottom of the seventh two runs were scored by Union after Netterville doubled to left field, scoring Berry who reached on a single, and Frierson who reached on a walk.

Union was led by Josh Bozoian going 2-4 with three RBI's. Jake Baker, Britt Netterville, and Dorian Berry all added two RBI's of their own. Baker went 1-4, Netterville went 1-4, and Berry went 1-4. Ryan Lee went 1-2 with a home run and one RBI, and A'Darius Pugh would go 1-4 with one RBI. On the Mound Sam McMillin got the start and went six innings with four earned runs, five hits, and five strikeouts. Cooper Bullough came in relief with one inning pitched giving up two runs on one hit. Ryan Middleton closed it out, pithing two innings giving up only one hit and two strikeouts.

Up next for Union will be a home GSC series starting with a double header, Saturday, March 6 at 1 p.m. versus Auburn University Montgomery.
