MARTIN, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team fell 8-3 Wednesday at the University of Tennessee Martin. Union dropped to 9-19 overall, while UT Martin improved to 9-15 on the season.
UT Martin took control early with three runs in the first and two in the second. Union rallied with two in the fourth but never took the lead. The Skyhawks added a run in the sixth and two more in the eighth to lead 8-2. Union scored a final run in the ninth. UT Martin outhit Union 12-5.
Union got hits from four different players with
Caleb DeMarigny leading with two hits.
Charlie Ellis,
Josh Bozoian, and
Hayden Lewis recorded one RBI each.
Bozoian continued his RBI streak wit three straight games with at least one RBI and four of the last five games with at least one RBI. Eleven of this 14 season RBI have come in the last five games.
Union used eight pitchers in the game, one pitcher for each inning.
Walker Adkisson (0-2) started the game and took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout and no walks. He was followed by
Ryan Mets,
Cooper Bullough,
Logan Portis,
Scott Shearer,
Kory Pollard,
Owen Bartholomew, and
Spencer Woods. Bullough, Portis, Shearer, Bartholomew, and Woods all pitched scoreless innings.
Up next for Union is a home GSC series versus West Alabama that has been moved to March 31 and April 1, Sunday and Monday.
