JACKSON, Tenn. - Union University's Emily Bennett has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District performer for the 2017 season. This award is nominated and voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be at least a sophomore with athletic contributions to their team.
Bennett, 5-foot-6 junior outfielder from Dyersburg, Tenn., started all 52 of her games this season in center field. She hit .329 with 45 runs, 50 hits, nine doubles, six triples and 13 RBI. Bennett also led the team with 19 stolen bases in 23 attempts. Bennett is just one triple away form breaking the career triples mark at Union. She current has 17 triples. Bennett was also named TSWA Player of the Week once this year.
