JACKSON, Tenn.- Union completed the doubleheader sweep over Miles on Wednesday at Fesmire Field, pairing a dominant pitching performance in game one with timely offense in game two to secure back-to-back wins.
In the opener, Union rode a complete-game shutout from Rylee Moore to a 4-0 victory. Moore limited Miles to just two hits while striking out four and walking one across seven innings . The Bulldogs broke through in the fifth inning, plating three runs on a two-RBI double from Courtney Marler followed by an RBI double from Camryn Langley. Union added an insurance run in the sixth, capitalizing on aggressive base running from Sydney Scott, who swiped three bags and later scored. Despite being held to just three hits, Union made them count, combining patience at the plate with timely extra-base hits to secure the shutout win.
Game two saw Union hold off a late push from Miles to earn a 4-3 victory and complete the sweep. After trailing 1-0 early, Union erupted for four runs in the fourth inning. Rylee Moore delivered the big swing with a three-RBI double to right center, and Langley followed with an RBI single to cap the inning .
Miles threatened late, scoring twice in the sixth to cut the deficit to one, but Union's bullpen held firm. Paige Garetson earned the win after tossing three innings, while the pitching staff combined to limit damage in key moments. Offensively, Union tallied 11 hits in the nightcap, with multi-hit performances from Courtney Marler and Bella Lopez helping fuel the attack.
Across both games, Union showcased a balanced effort—dominant pitching in game one and clutch hitting in game two, to secure the doubleheader sweep and build momentum moving forward.
Union will return to the Fes to host the University of West Alabama this weekend.
