JACKSON, Tenn.- Union faced a strong West Alabama squad over the weekend, dropping all three games despite flashes of offensive production and competitive moments throughout the series.
The series opened with a 9-0 loss, as Union was limited to just three hits. West Alabama used a five-run fifth inning to pull away, while Union's best chance came in the fourth when Rylee Moore and Sydney Scott recorded back-to-back singles. Moore, Scott, and Paige Garetson each tallied a hit in the contest, but the Lady Bulldogs couldn't capitalize with runners on base.
In game two, Union showed resilience at the plate, collecting 11 hits in a 12-4 defeat. After falling behind early, the Lady Bulldogs responded with a three-run third inning highlighted by RBI production from Sydney Scott. Union added another run in the fourth to cut into the deficit, with Rylee Moore leading the way offensively with a three-hit performance. Mallory Hildebrand and Paige Garetson also recorded multi-hit games as Union continued to apply pressure, but a late surge from West Alabama widened the gap.
The series finale was a pitcher's duel, with Union narrowly falling 2-0. Riley Vaughn delivered a strong complete-game effort in the circle, allowing just three hits and two unearned runs while working around eight walks. Union matched West Alabama with three hits of their own, including knocks from Moore, Courtney Marler, and Camryn Langley, but were unable to break through offensively.
