JACKSON, Tennessee- The Union University dropped both games of their Gulf South Conference double header with Alabama Huntsville Saturday afternoon.


Game One: Alabama Huntsville 5, Union 2
Both teams were held scoreless through five innings before UAH got on the board with a single run in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly following a triple to left center from Matt Spruill. The Chargers added three more runs to their total in the top of the seventh on four hits including a leadoff double to start the inning. The Chargers finished their string of scoring innings in the eighth with an RBI double to lead 5-0.

Union finally got on the board scoring two runs with back to back from Dylan Moore and Ryne Roper knocked home Austin Orr and Zach Wylie to pull within three runs, 5-2.

Teddy Christie started on the mound for Union going 6.1 innings giving up four runs on seven hits and striking eight innings. Andrew Wilson finished out the game in relief going 2.2 innings. Zach Phillips and Ryne Roper were the only Bulldogs to record multiple hits, each recording two singles.

Game Two: Alabama Huntsville 2, Union 0
The Chargers opened up the game with a solo homer from Matt Spruill in just the second at-bat of the game for the early 1-0 lead. Alabama Huntsville doubled their lead in the second after Tanner Gardner came in to score after reaching on an error. 

Union had chances to get on the board throughout the game including loading the bases in the fifth with one out only to ground into a double play and could not score to be shutout for just the fourth time this year.

Marty Coursey started on the mound tossing a complete game giving up just one run. Zach Phillips continue his hot hitting going 2-for-3 with a triple in the third.

Union concludes their series with the Chargers on Sunday with a single game starting at 1:00 p.m.
