JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's soccer team posted a 1-0 win over the University of West Alabama at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Union improved to 5-4-3 on the season and 3-2-2 in the Gulf South Conference. West Alabama dropped to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in league play.

Emily Waggoner had four saves in the match as she recorded her sixth shutout of the season. Each of Union's five wins, and one of the ties, have been a shutout victory for Waggoner.
Freshman forward
Kayleigh Patterson scored her team-leading sixth goal of the year in the 32
nd minute of play. The game-winning goal was assisted by fellow freshman
Kelsey Wilkes. Union outshot West Alabama 10-2 in the first period.
The offense was limited in the second half as West Florida held a slim shot advantage 5-4, but could not break through with a match tying goal. Issy Foster of West Alabama had eight saves in the match.
Up next for Union will be a road trip to Lee University, Friday, October 25.
