Union put together a pair of strong offensive performances Friday at Fesmire Field, earning back-to-back wins over Delta State, 8-6 and 10-6.
In game one, Union (TN) (4-8) answered quickly and never trailed again after a five-run second inning fueled the 8-6 victory.
.After Delta State opened the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the second, Union responded with aggressive baserunning and timely hitting.
Courtney Marler delivered a two-RBI single, and
Chloe Jones followed with a two-run home run to cap the inning and give Union a 5-1 advantage.
Union added a run in the third and two more in the fifth to create separation. Sydney Scott led the charge offensively, recording a double and a triple while scoring three times. Her RBI triple in the fifth, followed by a sacrifice bunt from Mallory Hildebrand, extended the lead to 8-5.
Emily Claire Felder earned the win in the circle, working 4.2 innings, while Rylee Vaughn closed out the final two frames to secure the save.
The Lady Bulldogs carried that momentum into game two, jumping on Delta State early in a 10-6 win.
Union scored three runs in the first inning and added four more in the second to build a commanding 7-0 lead. Scott tripled home two runs in the opening frame, and Emma Joy Bragan's two-RBI double in the second pushed the advantage further.
Union tacked on three additional runs in the third to stretch the lead to 10-1. C. Marler recorded two extra-base hits, Hildebrand went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Union totaled 13 hits in the nightcap.
Moore went the distance in game two, earning the win after tossing all seven innings and striking out five.
Delta State made a late push in the seventh, but Union's early cushion held up.
