JACKSON, Tenn.- Union battled back multiple times Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 8-6 to Delta State in the series finale at Fesmire Field.
After Delta State struck first with a two-run home run in the opening inning, Union answered immediately. Rylee Moore and Courtney Marler worked walks to open the bottom half, and Chloe Jones delivered a single to load the bases. Emma Joy Bragan lifted a sacrifice fly before Sydney Scott drove in the equalizer to knot the game at 2-2.
Delta State regained control with a four-run fourth inning, but Union responded again. Scott sparked the rally with a double and stolen base before Mallory Hildebrand drove her in with an RBI single. Aggressive baserunning continued to pay off as Hildebrand later scored on a wild pitch to trim the deficit to 6-4.
