JACKSON, Tenn. – The offense of Union University's baseball team didn't put a zero on the scoreboard in Tuesday's seven-inning, 18-5 run-rule win over Lane College at Fesmire Field.
The Bulldogs (9-12) scored six runs in the third, five in the sixth, and two more on three occasions to plate 18 against the Dragons (5-12) for the second time this season.
Freshman
Caden Walker finished a home run shy of the cycle in his collegiate career's first multi-hit game.
Grant Ross also recorded three hits, and
Hudson Cepparulo legged out a three-bagger in Union's first multi-triple game since the Bulldogs tallied two against Lane on April 4, 2023.
Fourteen different Bulldogs reached base via 12 hits–five for extra bases–eight walks, and five hit batsmen, the second-most of the season after Limestone plunked a half-dozen on February 1. Union also scored three times via the sacrifice fly for the first time since March 3, 2020.
Carson Chavies extended his on-base streak to nine with a third-inning walk.
Caleb Davis, who singled and was hit by a pitch, has reached in eight straight.
Union's
Nathan Myers,
Noah Toney, and
Brody Mann combined for 5.1 innings of two-run work in relief of starter
Eli Jackson, who went 1.2 innings and allowed three earned runs.
Union improves to 11-0 against Lane College in contests since 2012.
The Bulldogs look ahead to an away weekend at Trevecca Nazarene (6-13, 4-8).
