JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team dropped the last two games of the series at home verses Warhawks of Auburn Montgomery. Union moves to 8-14 overall on the season, and 4-8 in the Gulf South Conference. AUM improved to 10-14 on the year, and 6-6 in league play.
In Saturday's, AUM started the game off with a home run by their Jackson Ceman which put them on top early. Union answered in the bottom of the first as
Carson Chavies and
Grant Ross scored on a single by
Britt Netterville. AUM went on to score 12 unanswered runs. Union scored one run in the fifth, and two in the seventh, but that wouldn't be enough as they lost 15-5 after seven innings.
Alec Hardy led Union going 2-3, Netterville led the team with two RBI.
Mitch Sisk hit his second home run of the season this game.
Lane Evans started on the mound for the Bulldogs. He threw three innings giving up six runs on six hits striking out four. Three other Bulldogs threw in relief.
In Sunday's game, Union scored first as
Britt Netterville scored off of a single by
Mitch Sisk. AUM got the bats going in the second inning after Zach Dew hit a bases clearing double and then later on came in to score on a wild pitch. Union tied the game up in the fifth as
Alec Hardy came in to score off a sacrifice fly from Sisk. The Warhawks plated three runs between the sixth and seventh innings leading to a final score of 6-3.
Carson Chavies and Sisk led the team both going 2-2. Sisk led the team in RBI with three.
Ryan Evans started on the mound for Union throwing four innings allowing three runs on four hits. Sisk and Netterville threw in relief.
Up next for Union is a non-conference matchup at home against Trevecca Nazarene. This game is set to take place Tuesday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m.
