Before Union
Chavies played four seasons of baseball while prepping at Collierville High School. He also played summer baseball for the East Coast Sox. In 2019, Chavies was selected to play in the PBR Future Games on Team Tennessee, where he hit .360 with a .544 on-base percentage. He led the team in walks and runs scored and was second in stolen bases.

Off the field, Chavies graduated with honors.
