JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team took the first game of the series from Auburn University Montgomery Friday night 7-3. Union improved to 8-12 overall and 4-6 in the Gulf South Conference. The Warhawks of Auburn Montgomery dropped to 8-14 on the season and 4-6 in league play.
AUM got their bats going early as they strung three hits together which plated two runs. Union scored in the fourth inning as
Grayson Swanson scored on a single by
Alec Hardy. Union rallied in the sixth inning and scored five runs on six hits capped off by an RBI double from
Grant Ross. Both teams scored a run in the eighth inning making the final score 7-3.
Trey Frierson and Hardy led Union both going 3-for-4. Frierson added two doubles to his stat line. Frierson also led the team in RBI with 2.
Sam Poindexter started on the mound for Union earning his third win of the season. He threw seven and two third innings giving up three runs on nine hits, earning six strikeouts. Both

Up next for Union is a Saturday doubleheader to end the three-game series. The first game of the doubleheader is set to take place at 11:00 a.m.
