Before Union
Poindexter prepped at Collierville High School where he played four years of baseball. He also played travel baseball for Dulins Dodgers, helping the team to three PG World Series Titles. He also led his high school team to the state semifinals. Poindexter was named Rookie of the Year and PG All-Tournament. He left his high school on the leader board of all-time best ERA at Collierville. Off the field, Poindexter was a member of the National Honors Society, Honor Academy, and Seal of Biliteracy.
