Union baseball wins series versus West Liberty

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team posted a doubleheader split versus West Liberty University Saturday afternoon at Fesmire Field. Union won the first game 9-4 and dropped the second game 7-3. Union swept the Friday doubleheader to win the series three games to one. 
In the first game of the day, Union jumped out to a 9-0 lead with two runs in the first and third, and five in the fourth. Union managed just six hits in the game but took advantage of eight walks. Six different Bulldogs had one hit each. Britt Netterville, Grayson Swanson, and Colby Davis led with two RBI each. Davis had a double, while Netterville and Swanson each had one triple in the game. Lane Evans (1-0) earned the win with five innings of work, allowing on hit and no runs. 
In the second game, most of the scoring took place in the fifth. In a scoreless game, West Liberty erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth. Union responded with three in the bottom half. West Liberty added an insurance run in the sixth. Union again had six hits total, from five different players. Netterville led with two hits, a double and his second triple of the day. Netterville (2) and John Wheeler (1) had the teams only RBI. Mitch Sisk (0-1) took the loss, tossing four innings with four hits, three runs and six strikeouts. 
Up next will be another home game, Wednesday, February 15 at 2 p.m. versus Lane. The game has been moved from Tuesday due to the expected rain on Tuesday.
