JACKSON, TENN. – The Union University baseball team dropped three games in a home series against Delta State this weekend. Union lost the first game 11-17, the second game 4-11, and the third game 5-12. The Bulldogs fell to 11-18 overall on the season and 6-11 in the Gulf South Conference. The Statesmen of Delta State improved to 19-9 overall and 12-5 in league play.
In the first game, Union was led by
Grayson Swanson who went 5-4 with two doubles and a homerun.
Britt Netterville led the team in RBI with four.
Blake Barrett and Netterville also hit homerun's in the contest.
Sam McMillin started on the mound for the Bulldogs. He threw two and a third innings earning three strikeouts, allowing eight runs on seven hits and eight freebies.
AJ Zeak,
Jake Jewell and
Ethan Orwig all made an appearance in this game. They combined for six and a third innings earning one strikeout. They allowed nine runs on eight hits and seven freebies.
In the second game, Union was led again by Swanson as he went 1-3 with a homer and two RBI.
Luke Williamson started on the mound for the Bulldogs. He threw the minimum earning five strikeouts, he allowed six runs on four hits and three walks.
Jack Rasmussen and Ryan evens both made an appearance in this game.
In the third game, Multiple Bulldogs contributed;
Patrick Music,
Dorian Berry, Netterville, and
Josh Bozoian all drove in a run. Sam Pointdexter started on the mound for the Bulldogs. He threw four and a third innings earning four strikeouts. He allowed three runs on eight hits and no walks. Rasmussen,
Ryan Middleton, and
Dylan Thomas all threw in relief.
Up next for Union is a midweek nonconference game against the Dragons of Lane University. This game is set to take place Tuesday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m.
