MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University men's golf team posted a sixth place finish at the Buccaneer Spring Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University. The 3-round event was played at the Irene Golf and Country Club, featuring eight teams and 48 golfers.Â
Freshman golfer
JJ Zimmer led the Bulldogs with a third place finish, shooting 213 (72, 70, 71), just two shots behind the winner. Benjamin Boquete was medalist with a 211 with the help of a tournament best second round of 65. Zimmer's third round of 71 matches the best in the round.Â
Union was consistent with a first and third round of 299 and a second round scored of 300 for an 898 score. Delta State won the event with an 874. Mississippi College was second with an 878, with the help of a tournament best round of 279 in the second round. Christian Brothers was third, Shorter fourth, Montevallo fifth, Spring Hill seventh, and LeMoyne-Owen eighth.Â
