JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball team defeated Mississippi College 78-60 at Fred DeLay Gymnasium/David Blackstock Court. Union improved to 19-2 overall and a league best 14-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Mississippi College dropped to 12-11 on the season and 7-9 in league play.
The win was Union's 16th straight overall and 18th straight win at home. It also completed the season sweep over Mississippi College, including a 83-75 win at Mississippi College December 18.
Union is ranked No. 10 in this week's WBCA Coaches' Poll and No. 7 in the D2SIDA Media Poll.

Bethany Dillard got things started with a 3-pointer to open play. Five players scored for Union in the first quarter as it jumped out to a 25-14 lead.
Mississippi College cut the lead to nine points, 29-20, with 7:42 left in the half. Union then went on an 11-6 run to set the score at 40-26 heading into halftime.
Union shot 53 percent from the field in the first quarter, dropping to just 33 percent in the second quarter. Union was 4-of-8 from long range in the first quarter and went 1-of-7 from behind the arc in the second quarter.
Mississippi College once again cut the lead to nine points, with 6:35 left in the third quarter. Union outscored Mississippi College 23-10 in the remainder of the quarter to take a 22-point lead, 68-46, into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Choctaws outscored the Lady Bulldogs 14-10 in the fourth quarter. Union led by as many as 24 points twice in the fourth.
Jaelencia Williams scored her final points of the game, and
Bailey Augustine scored three layups while
Sally Howell added a pair of free throws to round out the scoring for Union and earn the 78-60 win.
Union was led by Williams with 23 points and 13 rebounds, her seventh double-double of the season. Williams also surpassed 1,000 career rebounds in the game. Dillard scored 14 points, and
Samariah Thompson scored 11 while going 6-6 from the free throw line.
Ashtyn Baker led with six assists. The Lady Bulldogs shot a stellar 50 percent from the field, 40 percent (8-20) from 3-point range, and 82 percent (18-22) from the free throw line.
Mississippi College was led by Kayla Bradley with 12 points and Kyiah Julian with 11 points. The Lady Choctaws shot 40 percent from the field, 33 percent (5-15) from 3-point range, and 75 percent (3-4) from the free throw line.
Up next for Union will be a road game at Christian Brothers University, Wednesday, February 16 at 5:00 p.m.
