MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball team posted a 75-63 win at Christian Brothers University. Union improved to 20-2 on the season and a league best 15-0 in the Gulf South Conference. Christian Brothers dropped to 8-16 overall and 7-11 in league play.Â
Union is ranked No. 5 nationally in both the WBCA Coaches' Poll and the D2SIDA Media Poll. Union is also ranked No. 1 in this week's NCAA Region Rankings.Â
The win for Union pushed its winning streak to 17 straight and also marked win No. 20 on the season. In Union's 50 years of varsity women's basketball, this is the 45th time Union has reached at least 20 wins. Of the five times not reaching 20 wins, Union hit 19 wins twice. Union has not had a losing season in the 50-year history of women's basketball.Â
In the win at Christian Brothers, freshman
Bethany Dillard posted her career high to lead all scorers. She poured in 27 points and was 9-of-13 from the field, including 8-of-11 from 3-point range.Â
Union's
Emily Beard Dunnagan opened the game with one of her four 3-pointers and Union jumped out to a 10-1 lead to start. Union led 19-11 after the first quarter and had a lead of as many as 10 points a few times in the second quarter. A 3-pointer by CBU at the buzzer cut the Union lead to 36-33 at the half.Â
With the 3-pointer to close the half, CBU made three straight 3-pointers to open the second half and took its largest lead at 42-36. Beard stopped the run with back-to-back 3-pointers followed by a 3-pointer form Dillard to regain the lead. After CBU took a brief 4-point lead, Union made a run capped by another 3 pointer from Dillard to tie the game at 51-51 at the end of three quarter.Â

Jaelencia Williams free throw and back-to-back 3-pointers from Dillard and Union retook the lead for good. Union pulled away to lead 73-56, its largest lead of the game with 2:15 left. Â
Union was led by Dillard's 27 points. Williams added 19 points and led with nine rebounds, missing her third straight double-double by one rebound. Beard finished with 12 points. Union shot 44 percent from the field, 46 percent (12-26) from long range, and 75 percent (9-12) from the free throw line.Â
CBU was led by Jeremia Montgomery with 19 points. Karlee BAtes and Yaya Coleman added 11 points each, while Emily Jones scored 10 points. Coleman added 11 rebounds for a double-double. The Lady Bucs shot 34 percent from the field, 43 percent (9-21) from 3-point range, and 77 percent (10-13) from the free throw line.Â
Up next for Union will be its final regular season home game, Saturday, February 19 at 2 p.m. versus West Alabama.Â
