HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Union University women's cross country team posted a runner-up finish at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Open Saturday morning. The 5K event featured 12 teams and 115 runners. 

Union freshman Chloe Veilleux finished seventh in the race with a time of 18:54. Florida State's Erin Phelps won the race with a time of 17:50. 

Union posted a time of 1:38:00, which was behind Florida State's winning time of 1:33:00. Mississippi College was third, Alabama State fourth, Alabama Huntsville fifth, Spring Hill sixth, Alabama A&M seventh, Wallace State eighth, Jacksonville State ninth Birmingham Southern tenth, Delta State 11th, and Auburn Montgomery 12th. 

Jaclline Ruto was the second finisher for Union in 13th place (19:18), with Abigail Bergquist just beind her in 14th place (19:23). Rebecca Tankersley finished 28th (20:07), Anna Tankersley 34th (20:16), Tessa Kaltenback 43rd (20:38), Gabbie Stevens 55th (21:10), Amanda Leatherwood 61st (21:36), and MaryKate Leatherwood 103rd (25:34). 

Up next for Union will be the Queens University Royal Challenge in North Carolina, October 11.
