HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Union University women's golf team posted a seventh place finish at the Carey Collegiate Fall Classic hosted by William Carey University. The event took place at the Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg and featured 11 teams withÂ
69 golfers.Â
Union freshman
Nicole Taylor posted her first top-10 in her college career with a T7 finish. Taylor shot 75 in the first round, followed by a 72 in the final round for a 147. Cumberland's Carlee Shoemaker won the event with a 70, 73-143.Â
Union's team shot 311 in the first round, good for seventh place after round one. Union improved to 306 in the final round, but not enough to improve on the seventh place position. The University of the Cumberlands won the event with a 302, 291-593. Cumberland University and Dalton State tied for second, Lindsey Wilson College fourth, Loyola-New Orleans fifth, and William Carey sixth.Â
Other individual finishes for Union included
Kallie Robertson, another freshman for Union, posting her best college tournament finish in 13th place (77, 73-150).
Alyssa Burnett finished T30 (79, 80-159),
Emma Korte finished 36th (80, 81-161), and
Delaney Sain finished T46 (85, 85-170).Â
Up next for the Union women will be the Indiana University Kokomo Invitational in Kokomo, Ind. October 4-5.Â
