GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Union University women's golf team posted a sixth place finish in the very competitive Greenwood Women's Invitational. The event was hosted by Lander University and was played at the Greenwood Country Club. The 3-round event featured 13 teams and 66 golfers.Â
Of the 13 teams, five of the teams are ranked in the top-50 nationally. Union came in at No. 50, while Lander is No. 7, Erskine No. 21, Palm Beach No. 26, and Montevallo No. 39.Â
Union was sixth in the event with a +71 score. Lander won the event at +22. Mount Olive was the only top six finisher not ranked in top-50.Â
Union finished ahead of Gulf South Conference foes Treveca Nazarene (7) and AUM (9).Â
Camille Burnette and
Abigail Fernandez both led Union with T16 finishes at +15. Montevallo's Ainoa Ruiz won the event with a +1.Â
Macy Bromley finished 27th (+20),
Brooklyn Verdugo 29th (+21), and
Grace Roper 46th (+36).
Olivia Carroll participated as an individual for Union, finishing 42nd (+32).Â
Up next for Union will be the Grand Harbor Classic in Anderson, S.C. March 30-31.Â
