Burnette's seventh place leads Union women's golf to top-10 finish

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The Unon University women's golf team posted a seventh place at the Dunes West Women's Intercollegiate hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University. The 3-round event was played at the Dunes West Golf and River Club, featuring 17 teams 96 players. 

In the first event of the spring season, junior Camille Burnette finished seventh at +11, 227 with scores of 76, 75, and 76. She posted five birdies over the three rounds. 

Union finished seventh at +79, 943 (323, 310, 310). Lincoln Memorial won the event at +51, 915. Of the six teams ahead of Union, four are ranked 33 or better nationally. Union defeated No. 37 Emmanuel by two strokes. 

Brooklyn Verdugo finished T13 (83, 72, 77), posting the team's best round of the tournament with a 72 in the second round. Abigail Fernandez finished T44 (83, 81, 78). Olivia Carroll finished T52 (81, 84, 81). Macey Bromley finished T54 (86, 82, 79). 

Up next for Union will be the Arkansas Collegiate hosted by Southern Arkansas University in El Dorado, Ark. March 9-10.
