JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University volleyball team capped off the
Union University Classic with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18) over West Virginia State University. Union dropped a pair of games Friday both in five sets, 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11) to Quincy University and then 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 15-8) to the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Union is now 6-5 on the season.
In the win over WVSU, Union hit .340, leading in kills 45-35. Union led 7-4 in blocks, 30-28 in digs, while aces were even at three each.
Meghan Delaney led with 15 kills, while
Haley Ramsey added 11. Delaney,
Alyssa Tatsch, and
Jordan Vick each had one ace,
Kristen Bukowsky and Ramsey led with three blocks each, Vick with 31 assists, and
Audrey Cagle and Delaney led with eight digs each.
In the loss to UMSL, the Tritons led Union 72-52 in kills, 5-4 in blocks and 68-53 in digs. Union led 9-7 in blocks. Delaney led with 22 kills, Vick with three aces and 34 assists,
Emily Grace Calhoon with five blocks, and
Abbie Rahn with 21 digs.
The loss to Quincy, the Hawks led 66-58 in kills and 63-47 in blocks. Union dominated the net, leading 11-3 in blocks while both teams had seven aces. Delaney led with 17 kills,
Kristen Goggin and Vick had two aces, Tatsch led with six blocks, Vick with 35 assists, and Rahn with 17 digs.
Up next for Union volleyball is the first GSC match of the season at Christian Brothers, Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m., starting a three game road stretch.
