DURANT, Okla. - The Union University volleyball team posted a split in a pair of matches on the first day of the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Classic. Union lost the first match of the day in five sets, 3-2 (25-18, 13-25, 25-22, 17-25, 17-15). Union responded with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-23) victory over East Central University. Union improved to 3-2 on the season.
In the win over East Central, Union hit .257 with 35 kills. Union added eight aces and seven blocks.
Kristen Bukowsky led with eight kills,
Abbie Rahn with three aces,
Emily Grace Calhoon with four blocks,
Jordan Vick with 26 assists, and Rahn with 12 digs.
In the first match of the day, Union led UAM in points, kills (57-50) and aces (4-2), but lost the close five-setter. Union was led by
Meghan Delaney with 23 kills, Calhoon with two aces, Bukowsky with five blocks, Vick with 40 assists, and Rahn with 40 digs.
Up next for Union will be two more matches in the SE Classic, Saturday, September 14 at 9 a.m. versus Southern Nazarene University and at 1 p.m. versus host Southeastern Oklahoma State.
