JACKSON, Tenn.- The Union University softball team defeated University of Montevallo in a double-header on Saturday afternoon. Union improved to 17-11 overall and 6-5 in Gulf South Conference play. Montevallo dropped to 14-15 overall and 5-9 in conference play. 

The Lady Bulldogs have now won five straight games.

In the first game, the Lady Bulldogs won, 6-5, in walk off fashion again with a hit from Taylor Manley, bringing in Lexie Bates. In the first inning, the Falcons scored three runs, and in the third inning, they scored one run. In the third inning, Alyssa Ward scored off a single by Kaitlyn Kelley, and Haley Barnette drove in Ashten Petty for another run. Montevallo's final run of the game was in the fourth inning. In the seventh, Kelley scored off a single from Smith, and a double from Gabby Morris brought in Smith and Abbie Page to tie the score at 5-5. The final run came in from Bates. 

Manley earned the win for Union, tossing five innings and giving up three hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Morris tossed for two innings, giving up three hits with one strikeout and three walks. Four Lady Bulldogs had two hits. 

In the second game, Union defeated Montevallo 10-3. In the first inning, Ward scored off a double by Kelley, and Kelley scored a run off a single from Smith. Morris hit a double, bringing in Smith, and Parker Davis doubled to bring in Morris. To start the third inning, Davis homered to centerfield. Montevallo scored three runs in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Harley Bartholomew scored off a single by Kelley. Barnette homered to left center, bringing in Kelley. Union's last runs of the game came from a homer by Davis that brough in Smith. 

Davis earned the win for Union, tossing seven innings and giving up four hits with nine strikeouts and four walks. 

Union was led by Kelley and Davis with three hits each. 

Union finishes the series against the University of Montevallo on Sunday, March 17 at 1:00 p.m.
