Before Union
Petty prepped at South Gibson County High School where she played softball for four years. During her time at South Gibson, she was named all-district, 2nd team all-state, district catcher of the year, and played in the West Tennessee High School All Star game. She was inducted into the Gibson County Hall of Fame. Off the field, she was a member of the Honor Roll, Honors Scholar and Distinguished Scholar.
