MONTEVALLO, Ala.- The Union University baseball team split the games Friday at the University of Montevallo. Union won the first game 18-5, while Montevallo won the second game 12-1. 

Union's record is now 6-14 overall and 2-6 in GSC. Montevallo's record is now 14-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play. 

In the first game, Union had a season high 18 runs and four home runs. The first home run came from Hayden Lewis in the top of the third inning. David Robins put Union up 4-0 in the top of the fifth with a home run to center field. The bats continued to swing for Union as they scored four more runs form Charlie Ellis, Lewis, Jesse Kelley, and Chase Diggs, Lewis, Diggs, and Nolen Milton each received an RBI. Milton had Union's third homer of the game in the top of the seventh, Robins and Diggs scored. The final home run of the game was from Kelley in the top of the eight inning. Scott Shearer (4-3) earned the win after tossing 6.1 innings. He gave up seven hits, five runs, and had two strikeouts. Brady Cook pitched 1.2 inning and had one strikeout. Union had 17 hits. Diggs led Union with four hits, while Milton led with four RBI. 

In the second game, the Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of second. Union's only run of the game came from Ellis after a double from Spencer Schultz in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Montevallo scored another four runs on the Bulldogs. In the bottom of the sixth, Montevallo scored four runs to bring the final score to 12-1. Marty Coursey (0-1) took the loss tossing 4.1 innings. He gave up 13 hits, eight runs, and had three strikeouts. JD Fuzzell pitched for 1.2 innings. He gave up three hits, four runs, and had one strikeout.
